These pictures were taken on our visit to Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida. This park is more like a Six Flags theme park with a lot of rides. It was a lot of fun, but it seemed smaller than some of the other parks because there were a ton of people there. This is the entrance to the Islands of Adventure. The theme park consists of several "islands" with different themes.
The first theme was the Marvel universe. Many characters were displayed on the buildings in this section. Here is a picture of Wolverine, the famous X-man.
Here is the Incredible Hulk roller coaster. It was lots of fun. The best thing about it was the beginning. When the roller coaster started its first big climb it all of a sudden rocketed you up the hill and over the top!! What a surprise!!
Here's a closeup of one of the loops on the Incredible Hulk roller coaster.
The second theme was Jurassic Park. We didn't do any of the rides in this section because they were all water rides and we definitely weren't prepared to get wet that day (it was already raining).
Even though we didn't go on any of the rides in the Jurassic Park, it was still neat walking through. They did a great job with the landscaping and dinosaur noises that were coming from the bushes.
The next theme was the Lost Continent. This one was lots of fun. The griffon in this picture was the entryway to the Lost Continent.
I don't remember what this thing was, but it looked cool so I took a picture. The only thing I remember is that it was huge!
Here is a picture of the Dueling Dragons roller coaster. Its a battle between Fire and Ice, two independent roller coasters. We waited for about 50 minutes to get on this ride. Once you get in, you make the choice of which roller coaster you want to ride. We chose Fire. This roller coaster also had lots of loops and was much more intense than the Incredible Hulk roller coaster. I think it was a bit too intense though so I preferred the Incredible Hulk.
I found this little alcove somewhere in the Lost Continent and thought it might make a good picture. I liked all of the waterfalls.
This was a picture of Posidens adventure. We didn't get a chance to make it to this show, but I'm sure it would have been great.
Here is the next theme, can't remember the exact name of it, but it revolved around all of the older comic characters. My mom loves Betty Boop so I had to take this picture for her.
For the Blondie fans out there.
I thought these were the Flintstones at first. I don't know who they are but this was a mini-Mt. Rushmore.
Here is one of the flume rides at Islands of Adventure. It looked like a lot of fun, but we didn't go on it for the reasons I mentioned above.
And lastly, we enter the Seuss Landing theme. This was built for the kids.
This is just one of the many cool cartoon-like buildings in this theme. You actually felt like you were in a cartoon. It was weird.
